Torbay chess congress - Nov 11th - 13th

As usual the Downed players made their mark in yet another congress (not really a surprise these days!), especially in the highly contested Minor section.

Minor section


1st equal Grant Daly and Oliver Stubbs (both on 4/5, and unbeaten for the weekend, both with grading performance over 135). Grant and Oliver both won their last game in order to share first place. There were 45 players in the section.


Jack Tye scored 3/5, and won yet another grading prize


Open section


Robert Taylor scored 2½/5, and also won a grading prize.


There was also a team of four, from the same chess club, event. The following made up "The Downed Dynamos" team:


Richard Livermore - (team captain, and Mr motivator)

Oliver Stubbs - (winning as black expert)

Robert Taylor - (endgame coach)

Jack Tye - (tactics analyst)
